North to Hilo-Dec 26 2010-Jan.3,2011

Drove north to Hilo. Had reservations at Lava Tree Inn, but that did NOT work out. Beautiful place, but very remote. I told the lady thats my husband did not like the place and we could not stay. Gave her $200 and got the heck out of Dodge. She said he seemed like a nice man, and did not understand how he could control me like that. We laughed at that!! Decided to drive on to Hilo and get a nice ocean view hotel. I called around and we found a beautiful hotel on Hilo bay. It was so nice to sit on the lanai and watch the big cruise ships come and go in the harbor. The weather is very different on the east side of the Big Island. Cool, damp and rains every day. Hilo is a very old town. Not quite as many tourist. Was the first big town on Big Island. Ate in a neat resturants called Ponds. Overlooked small ponds the ocean has formed around the lava rock. Had a delicious meal. We eat fish, rice and fruit at every meal. The fruit is so good, we cannot get enough. Pinapple is a lot better than Krogers.Stayed 2 days in Hilo. Because of me being on coumadin have to get a blood test every week, and that has been so easy. Found out where to go in every town, and they are so nice. Also easy to have perscriptions filled . Insurance only pays for so many days so we have to re-fill. Left our hotel on Tues. Dec 28 and drove along the coast to a little town, Honaka'a, as we have reservations at Luna Oli cottages. Only 2 cottages and they are surrounded by beauritul ferns, flowers and fruit trees. Orange, lime, lemon, and mango. Did we enjoy those or what. Picked our fair share and more.
